Last week, Moving David shared 5 Android Apps for your Cross Country Move. This week, I will share the 5 best apps for those of us with real phones, iPhones! (Well actually a couple of these apps are also available in the Android Market.)
Moving Van: This app will come in handy when packing and unpacking. The Moving Van app allows you to track what you pack in each box, and even take photos of the items that you put in the box. It may sound like one extra step, but when you’re trying to remember which box you put your can opener in, you’ll be grateful that you don’t have to go through 10 boxes to find it!
Gas Buddy: Like Moving David mentioned, this is a “must download” app (whether you’re moving or not). I don’t know about you, but I’ll wait through a light, cut across 2 lanes and make a U-turn to save 10 cents on gas. This is not as convenient in a moving truck, so plan ahead and drive safely to the cheapest gas station!
INRIX: Nothing says miserable like sitting in traffic with a moving truck! Avoid traffic and construction delays with the INRIX App. Inrix takes navigation to the next level. It will alert you of accidents, traffic, construction, and even events that are going on along your route that could delay your trip. You can even alert others of an accident if you are the first one to see it.
SuperGraphics Travel Game: If you’re moving on a weekend or over a holiday, you are sure to see a lot of U-Haul trucks! Have you ever noticed the graphics on the sides of these trucks? They are called SuperGraphics, and each illustrates unique facts about states and provinces. With the SuperGraphics game you can track the graphics you’ve spotted and learn more about them. The latest release of this game even has tile puzzles that will keep passengers busy for hours. It’s perfect for bored kids!
Yelp: This is another App that is good for more than just moving. In the mood for a Burger or Chinese take-out? Find locations near you, read reviews, and get directions all in one app. This can be particularly helpful in a new city because trusting the sign on the window “Best Burger in Town” isn’t always a good decision.
To avoid flustering with your iPhone while driving, make sure you download and play with these apps ahead of time, so you have have a fun and safe move!
Have you used any of these apps? Do you know of any other must download iPhone apps for moving? Share them with us in the comments!
