Picture and Art Storage

Packing for a move should be strategic, but sometimes in the craziness of making sure everyone in the family has their rooms packed and labeled, the walls are  ignored. Next thing you know, you have your whole house packed but your walls are fully dressed! Just throwing your art on top of your other stuff doesn’t ensure that it will arrive to your new home safely, so what’s the best way to make sure your Van Gogh (or Van Gogh copy) makes it to your new home safe and sound? You’ve got a few options:

Bubble Corners corners

If you’ve got multiple pieces that need to be protected, the most economical choice will be bubble corners. They come in a pack of 16 so you can protect up to four different pieces with this kit. They are also self-adhesive so they can sick to the frame. Keep in mind that this is just a single layer of bubble wrap so if you want extra padding, you might want to double-up. Also, if you have an expensive frame that you do not want adhesive on, you may want to consider a different option.

For a sturdier protection, try the picture packer kit. The corner protectors are Styrofoam so the frame is lifted off the ground. There is also no adhesive that goes onto the frame itself. It is held in place by a strap that goes around all the edges of the frame. This way, the frame is protected from all angles. It holds a frame up to 2.2 inches thick, so it should fit most frames. It also works with the U-Haul mirror box and the large mirror box.

Picture Moving Kit

Have lots of pieces that you need to protect? This kit has enough supplies to protect 6 framed pieces and contains all the supplies needed to make sure they get to your new home safe. Just make sure to order it online with enough time. This is not an item you can get in-store.

If you are storing your pieces then you may want to consider climate controlled storage. Whether it is a print or an oil painting weather, that is too hot or too cold could damage what made it beautiful to begin with!
